Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

"It is (the soundlessness) in the current in the river of your spinal cord that carries memory from Sacred places, the sound of a thousand butterflies taking flight in windlessness."   Joy Harjo

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a form of noninvasive hands-on bodywork which seeks to realign the body with its inherent health by acknowledging both the anatomical and energetic aspects of cranial sacral therapy.  It is based on several tenets of healing ~ the body’s inherent capacity to heal, the healing power of deep stillness and spaciousness, and the potential within life energy to coalesce around physical, emotional, and spiritual injury. When released through the work, this life energy revitalizes the body, mind, and spirit.

Anatomically, Biodynamic Craniosacral  Therapy works with the cranial sacral system which contains the fluids in the spinal cord that nourish the central nervous system  and  controls so many vital physical and emotional functions. Energetically, cranial therapy is based on the understanding that life force, called potency or Source energy, is always moving into and renewing the body, mind, and spirit. When the client and practitioner align with this Source energy, a subtle, but palpable, healing process begins.

Body, mind, and spirit possess an inherent healing intelligence that directs the healing work. Clients may come in with a physical symptom and evaluate the effectiveness of the work based on whether that symptom is eradicated.  Healing, however, often unfolds in layers. Symptoms, for example, can be the bearers of deeper messages from psyche or soul. So what changes first may not be the symptom. Instead, the client may experience a deep, core relaxation of the nervous system leading to a more spacious and deeper experience in her day-to-day life before symptoms begin to shift.

"Hold My Head"

Hold my head.  Let it sink, solid stone,
into the wide bowl of your palms.
Let it go back to what it was.

Hold my head like a rock in the sea.
Let the tides of your fingers wash over it.
Hold my head.  Let it sink, solid stone,

between the steady shores of your hands.
Contain it in the ocean of change.
Let it go back to what it was.

Soften the edges, the aching cracks, ancient scars.
Let it roll with the rhythm of the waves.
Hold my head.  Let it sink, solid stone,

under the shifting moon, the river of sky.
Hold my head.  Let it split open, melt in the sun.
Let it go back to what it was,

the soft clay, pulsing, breathing mud.
Let it begin to flow, loose and light, alive.
Hold my head.  Let it sink, solid stone.
Let it go back to what it was.
